San Agustín Cathedral

1768 -1875

The second (or third), much more substantial church building was located just west of the present school. It was begun about 1768 and built of local sandstone. This second church remained until about 1875, when it was razed. More than 90 burials were recorded by Warren and Archaeological Consultants, Inc., in their 1990s archaeological work at the site of the second church and what is now a parking lot south of the Cathedral.
